Midnight at the Movies

The first midnight premiere of a movie that I’ve ever attended? The Simpsons! Earlier today.

I was pretty happy with the movie. It didn’t take itself too seriously, and managed to hold on to some of the thematic elements that made the TV show great. Is it going to make you a fan of the Simpsons if 18 years of television haven’t already? Probably not. If you’ve enjoyed the show, will you enjoy the movie? Most definitely!

  1. Saw the movie last (Sunday) night. Really enjoyed it, although it didn’t blow me away. Its not an earth shattering achievement. Rather, its a long, very well done episode.

  2. I liked that it stayed in the general realm of a bigger more intricate episode. If they’d have gone too far into uncharted waters, they’d have lost the fans. As it is the movie is for the fans, not an effort to bring more people into the flock.

  3. I can’t wait to watch the movie — have you seen the 7 eleven converted Kwiki Marts?

  4. I haven’t been to one of the kwikimarts yet. We were teaching a class for public school teachers in july, and they made fun of how excited I was about the simpsons movie. one of the teachers went to the kwikimart in chicago and took pictures for me though! it was a nice gesture, and the kwikimart looked pretty cool.
